The implementation of the Disaster Risk Management Programme in Dakshina Kannada District in an organized and systematic manner opened with the Government of India (GoI) starting the Urban Earthquake Vulnerability Project (UEVRP) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, India (UNDP, India) in the district. From then onwards, a lot of awareness generation and training and capacity building programmes have been conducted for Government Agencies and other Disaster Risk Management Stakeholders in the District.
